Winter 2024

Winter Beanie, Superblend

We’ve loved experimenting with the ‘Superblend’ concept over the last couple of years. We take some of our favourite high-end single origins to create an absolute standout blend. We’re excited for this new offering for 2024. Although you can use this coffee for any brew method, it's specifically purposed to kick butt in milk!

Costa Rica, Volcan Azul

Alejo Castro is a fifth generation coffee grower (kind of coffee royalty!) Volcan Azul farm located in the Central Valley region of Costa Rica, near the Poas Volcano. The coffee beans from Volcan Azul are known for their exceptional quality, due to the farm's unique microclimate, rich volcanic soil and processing methods. The coffee plants are shade-grown, which helps preserve the delicate flavours of the beans and protect them from harsh conditions. The flavour profile of Volcan Azul coffee is characterized by brightness, fruity notes, and a smooth texture. This coffee is a natural process, meaning the cherries are sun-dried to maximise flavour and intensity.

Sumatra, Barokah Kerinci

The 320 members of the Barokah Bersama Co-operative live at the base of Mt Kerinci on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. Mt Kerinci is one of 452 volcanoes in a horseshoe of 40,000 kms called the Ring of Fire, a wild world of moving plates and volcanic activity. This coffee is a Grade 1 (defect free) Kerinci coffee variety native to this location. The process is an anaerobic natural, where the cherries experience a 7 day fermentation before being pulped and dried. The result is a concoction of sweetness, giving a nod to the summery fruits of watermelon and pineapple. These guys launched their co-op in 2017, and they run a pretty epic operation including a roasting facility, cupping lab along with their processing mill.

Kenya, Nyeri County

Gachatha Coffee Factory rests on a 392-acre piece of land in Nyeri County, 150 kms from Nairobi. The co-op started in 1963, including around 1500 small businesses. This coffee is a washed process, meaning that once coffee cherries are picked, the external fruit is removed through pulping. The high altitude coupled with rich volcanic soils around Mount Kenya are unique to the region, and it shows through in the cup. Gachatha Factory places high value on the welfare of its members, offering support for school fees and business emergencies. They have a shared mission to champion the cause of specialty coffee sourcing in the region. We can get behind that!
